Nexus plans infill drilling in Longtom gas field

Nexus Energy Ltd., Melbourne, is pushing ahead with plans for drilling the Longtom-5 infill well in Victorian offshore Gippsland production licence Vic/L29 as part of the company’s plans to bolster reserves for its wholly owned Longtom natural gas field in Bass Strait.

Sasol starts up Mozambique gas plant expansion

Sasol Petroleum International, the upstream subsidiary of Sasol Ltd., has started up its 63 million gigajoule/year (158 MMscfd) expansion at the Temane, Mozambique, gas processing plant. Capacity now is 458 MMscfd.

Sterling to drill Black Sea wells offshore Romania

A unit of Sterling Resources Ltd., Calgary, let a contract to Grup Servicii Petroliere SA to drill two exploratory wells in the Black Sea offshore Romania.

China’s State Grid to acquire Brazilian assets

State Grid Corporation of China is set to acquire electricity transmission assets in Brazil from Spanish builder Actividades de Construcción y Servicios for $531m, according to Reuters.

The acquisition is the latest in a series of overseas purchases by Chinese power companies, the report added.

If the deal goes ahead, State Grid will assume a debt of $411m.

State Grid's wholly-owned subsidiary State Grid International Development will take over seven high-voltage electricity transmission assets in Brazil from ACS, Reuters said, citing a statement via Bank of America Merrill Lynch, which acted as exclusive financial advisor on the deal.

Conductix-Wampfler UK wins Argentina deal

Mobile energy firm Conductix-Wampfler UK is to export to South America for the first time after striking a deal to supply a metro system in Argentina.

The firm makes energy and data transmission systems for mobile machinery and is part of the global Conductix-Wampfler Group, owned by Delachaux Group.

The contract is with Subterraneos de Buenos Aires for products to be installed at the Villa Urquiza depot on Line B of the Buenos Aires Metro.

“This is a particularly important contract win for Conductix-Wampfler UK because it will see us working in South America for the very first time,” said Conductix-Wampfler UK managing director Alan Jones.
