The US drilling rig count reached 1,047 units working for the week ended June 29, down 5 rigs from a week ago, according to Baker Hughes data. The count is up 107 units from this time a year ago when the count stood at 940. 

Magnum holds open season for WEST Header Project

Aramco, NOV plan JV in Saudi Arabia

Saudi Aramco and National Oilwell Varco Inc. will form a joint venture in Saudi Arabia. The proposed JV will provide high-specification land rigs, rig and drilling equipment, offer certain aftermarket services, and establish an education center to train Saudi technicians in the maintenance and operation of the drilling technology, the companies said.

Hess, CNX to sell JV assets in the Utica

Hess Corp. and CNX Resources Corp., Pittsburgh, will sell their 50-50 Ohio Utica joint venture assets to Ascent Resources-Utica LLC for net cash consideration of $400 million to each party. The assets, in the wet gas areas of Belmont, Guernsey, Harrison, and Noble counties, consist of 39,000 net acres including 26,000 net undeveloped acres. 

Ocean Rig agrees to postpone delivery of Ocean Rig Crete

Ocean Rig UDW Inc. reported plans to delay taking delivery of an enhanced integrated design newbuild drillship, the Ocean Rig Crete, until September 2020 as agreed upon with Samsung Heavy Industries (SHI). 

MARKET WATCH: Oil prices climb on world crude supply concerns, geopolitics

Light, sweet crude oil prices reached a 3-year high on the New York market June 28, briefly climbing above $73.50/bbl, which analysts attributed to a steep decline in US crude supplies and US-Iranian tensions. The trading session ended with a $73.45/bbl settlement.
