3. CONTROL SYSTEMS ENGINEER

REQUIREMENTS:
• B.S. in Electrical, Chemical or related engineering discipline
• Minimum 5 years experience in oil & gas production, refineries, petrochemicals or other industries.
• Experience must include the ability to execute small to medium sized projects from conception to start-up.
• Must have knowledge and application of instrumentation related Standards, Codes and Regulations and a basic understanding of project control techniques, budgeting, scheduling and tracking is required.
RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Instrumentation and control systems engineering including develop P&ID’s, control philosophy and alarm/shutdown and safety systems; develop engineering scope of work, man-hour budgets, and cost estimates; field instrumentation selection, sizing calculations and prepare data sheets.
• Senior level engineers will lead and direct the engineering and production of design drawing packages; perform quality checks and verification of compliance to standards for all documents issued for construction; prepare material requisitions and approval of bid tabulations; and perform field checkout, construction support and start-up assistance.
1. Develop P&ID's (control schemes, control interlocks, shutdown systems, alarm systems, etc) preferably for Refinery, Petrochem, or Oil & Gas projects.
2. Develop the engineering/design Scope of Work documents.
3. Prepare man-hour estimates for design development (FEL) and for detailed design.
4. Provide input for project scheduling, progress reporting and tracking, installed cost estimates, and manpower loading.
5. Prepare ISA data sheets for field devices (transmitters, valves, sensors, etc); complete engineering sizing calculations for control valves, relief valves, orifice plates, flow meters, etc. The Bellingham office has standardized on Intergraph SPI INtools software as the engineering and design database tool.
6. Prepare equipment specifications for DCS and PLC hardware.
7. Prepare a set of engineering documents for use by a programmer to configure a DCS or PLC system. These documents would include Control Narratives, Cause & Effect diagrams, Logic diagrams, Alarm Summaries, HMI sketches using VISIO software, etc.
8. Participate in the SIS lifecycle design steps and assist in the preparation of the SRS document. Check SIL verification calculations performed by a 3rd party consultant.
9. Prepare material requisitions and bid tabulations for client approval. Approve vendor drawings and calculations.
10. Lead the instrumentation design team to prepare a complete IFC (Issued for Construction) package of drawings, data sheets, specifications and FCO (Functional Check Out) binders. Perform QA/QC check of the entire package.
11. Participate in FAT (Factory Acceptance Testing), SAT (Site Acceptance Testing), field checkout, construction support and provide start-up assistance.

Candidates do not necessarily need to live in Bellingham (can live anywhere in US) but they will need to be flexible and willing to travel.do inspection at refinery’s and other industrial plants using Fiberglass Reinforced Plastic (FRP) pipes or tanks.
