49 per cent stake in $1.1bn gas power plant to be sold
April 29th, 2013Namibia is to make available for sale almost half the shares in a $1.1bn gas power plant currently under construction in the south of the country.
State-owned Namibia Power Corp is to sell 49 per cent of its stake in the company, which is scheduled to provide first power generation in 2018.
Namibia is to announce the winning bidders for the engineering and design of the Kudu gas field at Oranjemund and the construction of the 800 MW plant it will feed, according to the company’s project manager, Muyenga Muyenga.
Namibia is looking to reduce its energy import bill through developing its gas power potential.
