Algerian contract awarded to PW Power Systems
December 13th, 2013PW Power Systems has announced a contract with La Société Algérienne de Production de l’Electricité (SPE), to provide 20 FT8 MOBILEPAC units for four locations in Algeria.
SPE, a subsidiary of Sonelgaz, is a state-owned entity that is responsible for electricity generation throughout Algeria. The contract to PW, a group company of Mitsubishi Heavy Industries, Ltd., also includes fuel systems, demineralized water systems, mobile self-cleaning inlet air systems, black start generators and strategic spare components.
The MOBILEPAC unit, a self-contained gas turbine generator, is powered by an FT8 engine supplied by Pratt & Whitney. One MOBILEPAC unit generates 25 MW of electricity and operates on natural gas or liquid fuel. The complete power package can be quickly shipped by land, air or sea anywhere in the world, providing customers the ability for rapid deployment to mitigate emergency situations in addition to longer-term solutions.
The 20 MOBILEPAC units will be installed in four locations; two near Algiers, one in central Algeria and one in eastern Algeria. The units will be delivered in support of meeting the 2014 summer peak electricity demand.
