Director of Business Development
Our client in Idaho has an opening for a business development director to be accountable for the Profit & Loss division focused on medical products. This direct report position will focus on new product development and account management. You will provide leadership on business/technical issues with little to no supervision. You will lead key sales activities with key customer accounts and orchestrate organization of contract negotiations, customer production planning and delivery expectations, and quality improvement and service needs across departments.
This is an excellent position for someone who has a taste for leadership to see a product cycle go from concept to production and beyond. The work will include:
- Profit & loss responsibility for customer and/or product business
- Pricing for Non-Recurring Engineering (NRE), Non-Recurring Tooling (NRT), prototypes, production and service
- Managing inventory to support customer demand while balancing direct material costs, scrap and lead times
- Customer contract and expectation negotiations
- Prioritize to achieve company’s objectives of Productivity, Quality, Delivery and Growth
- Project management oversight by way of mentoring direct reports, providing technical guidance and ensuring process conformance
- Budget forecasting and management
- Coach and mentor direct reports based on career development plans created by the employee
Other qualification requirements include:
- Business management experience with accountability for revenue, earnings and metrics
- Significant experience managing customer relationships and growing accounts
- Project management experience developing technical products requiring electrical, mechanical and firmware/software engineering
- Proven competency in managing production-related activities
- Practical experience with the application of Lean methodologies, Toyota Production System or Six Sigma
- Experience with strategic planning and implementation
- Hands-on approach to problem solving in support of direct reports
- Ability and willingness to travel domestically and internationally 25-50%
Desired experience:
- Society of Manufacturing Engineering Lean Bronze certificate
- Experience in a Direct Sales, Manufacturing or Manufacturing Engineering environment
- Hands-on experience using ERP/MRP and/or PLM tools
- Experience with all Industry Standard Bus Protocols and Network architectures, EMI/EMC requirements, regulatory compliance, etc.
- Familiarity with Reliability Engineering methodologies including worst case, stress, durability analysis and HALT
- Well-versed in ISO 9000, 14385 standards, processes
- Previous experience with FDA, TUV, EC, FCC, etc. agency requirements
