Principal Engineer (Aircraft Interiors)

The Talley Group is currently seeking a Principal Engineer with a strong background in the aircraft interiors industry.  This is a direct placement opportunity located in Washington State offering a competitive salary range, excellent benefits and relocation assistance.

Must have aircraft interiors experience

The Principal Engineer (PE) for the Interior Architecture Value Stream (IVS) provides the technical leadership.  The PE, along with the program managers and operations manager constitute the leadership team for IVS.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provide leadership / mentoring for value stream (VS) lead and senior engineers for multiple disciplines
  • Establish and maintain the preferred “methods” for all engineering disciplines.  Nominate and develop subject matter experts in mechanical, electrical and stress to develop best practices and ensure they are being utilized via stage gate and design reviews
  • Manage the sales support and cost analyst functions for IVS– responsible for staffing and approving all estimates.
  • Establish manpower requirements, including proper skill set mix within VS for current and forecasted work.
  • Develop individual plans for broadening technical skill set within VS
  • Coordinate with other PE’s and the Chief Engineer to establish standard processes, procedures and best practices
  • Establish / maintain design standards and drive improvement to the product in both functionality and manufacturability.
  • Manage / track VS level engineering KPI’s
  • Be an advocate of Lean Principles within engineering as well as on the production floor
  • Monitor and approve weekly time sheets for engineering staff

REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelors degree in Engineering is preferred.
  • Minimum of 5 years experience in aircraft interiors
  • Prior management or lead experience required
  • Ability to effectively manage multiple priorities and work independently including handling of confidential information
  • Detail oriented, analytical and accurate
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work well within a team environment
  • Responsive, motivated and a self-starter
  • PC literate in Word and Excel, MS Project preferred
  • Excellent in English communication, both spoken and written.
  • Knowledge of Lean concepts preferred.
