Power Machines in Russian nuclear plant upgrades
August 29th, 2013Power Machines has signed a deal to upgrade condenser tube systems at two nuclear power plants in Russia.
The Russian company will design, manufacture and supply condenser tube systems for unit 3 at Kalininskaya power station and for unit 1 at Rostovskaya.
Power Machines will make a stainless steel tube system for Kalininskaya (pictured) and a titanium alloy design for Rostovskaya. Delivery to Kalininskaya is expected by the end of next year while Rostovskaya will be mid-2015.
The condenser tube systems upgrade will result in the replacement of copper-containing components within the units.
Meanwhile, Power Machines subsidiary Kaluga Turbine Works has built and successfully tested a 35 MW steam turbine for Bulgaria’s 130 MW Sofia coal-fired power plant.
The company manufactured the 35 MW steam turbine complete with a turbogenerator and auxiliary equipment and will also perform installation supervision and training of the plant's operational staff.
The equipment replacement of Sofia’s fifth unit will allow it to increase its capacity from 25 MW to 35 MW.
